The People’s Government of Longkou Sends a Delegation for a Visit and Exchange

On March 27,a delegation from Longkou City, Shandong Province, led by Gai Qian, Member of the Standing Committee and Director of the Office of the Longkou Municipal Committee, along with Dai Tengfei, Director of the Longkou Bureau of Science and Technology, and Sun Zhongteng, Deputy Director of the Longkou Committee Office, visited for discussions. Party Secretary Han Tongyuan and Executive Dean Sun Taolei of the Institute WUT-AMU attended the meeting, joined by the School’s leadership and faculty representatives.

At the meeting, Secretary Han offered warm greetings to the distinguished guests. He expressed the hope that both sides could establish comprehensive collaboration in technological innovation, achievement commercialization, industrial upgrading and talent exchange based on high-quality development, to facilitate deep integration of industry, academia and research.

Vice Dean Xia Tao provided a comprehensive overview of the School's advancements in disciplinary development, faculty team building, talent cultivation, and academic research. Faculty representatives from departments, Professor Chu Yingying (schoolsof chemicalengineering), Professor Wu Xiaopei (schoolsof pharmaceuticalsciences) and Professor Geng Wei (schoolsof biologicalsciences) respectively presented their cutting-edge research achievements in trauma repair and functional reconstruction, biomedical materials and clinical translation, innovative applications of cost-effective, scalable hierarchical coating technologies for aerospace and marine environments, along with cost-effective, high-efficiency seawater hydrogen production technology and its scalable industrial application.

Director Gai Qian presented an overview of Longkou City's fundamental landscape, encompassing Longkou's industrial structure, science and technology policies, and key enterprises. He articulated his aspiration to thoroughly explore collaborative frameworks with the WUT, with particular emphasis on aligning with theWUT's "Three Priority Industries" development objectives, to jointly advance industry-academia-research collaborative innovation, thereby achieving complementary advantages and mutually beneficial development. 

During the meeting, both parties engaged in substantive discussions centering on industrial demands and scientific research planning. They reached consensus to leverage this exchange as a strategic platform to deepen university-local collaboration, thereby contributing to the implementation of China's innovation-driven development strategy.

Following the meeting, the delegation conducted an inspection tour of several key facilities: the Hubei Provincial Key Laboratory of Nanomedicine for Neurodegenerative Diseases, the University History Museum, the Art Gallery and the Intelligent Operations Center.
