On April 20,the School’s volleyball team clinched the championship title at the 9th Faculty Volleyball Tournament of Wuhan University of Technology—becoming the first team in the tournament’s nine-year history to win back-to-back titles.

As the defending champions, the School’s volleyball team entered the tournament under both pressure and attention. With strong support from the School’s faculty committee, the players stayed committed to regular training and worked continuously to refine their volleyball techniques.

Led by captain Duan Lian, the team rigorously practiced strategies such as multi-point attacks and zone defense, aiming to outmaneuver opponents with a tactical approach that combined speed, stability, and adaptability.

During the group stage, the team secured four straight wins with absolute dominance, advancing confidently to the quarterfinals. In the knockout rounds, faced with strong competition, they relied on teamwork and tenacious defense to reach the final.

In the opening set of the final, the team suffered a narrow 21–17 loss due to a clear disadvantage in both height and power. In response, the players quickly adjusted their strategy, shifting to a defense-first approach by using tight blocking to limit the opponent’s attacking space.

Despite dropping the first set 21–17 against a physically dominant opponent, the team quickly regrouped and shifted to a defensive strategy, using tight blocks to restrict attacking lanes. Libero Du Chen kept the team alive with several spectacular diving saves, while the rest of the squad skillfully balanced offense and defense to control the tempo. Captain Duan Lian capitalized on defensive gaps with explosive spikes, racking up points in quick succession. Rallying from a 0–1 deficit, the team stormed back to take the next two sets—and with them, the championship title.

Winning the title was more than a competitive success—it reflected the team’s resilience, unity, and shared determination. The players didn’t just compete; they stood together through pressure and challenge.

After the match, team members emphasized that the victory was a collective achievement. With the same spirit of collaboration and perseverance, they look ahead to future challenges—ready to continue bringing pride and momentum to the School.
